It’s a knockout

DON’T worry folks, there was no place in this week’s Camden New Journal for this picture… but this shot by Dan Carrier of Theo Blackwell in all his punchy pomp at Friday’s election shouldn’t  just be archived and never seen again. It’s almost as if somebody had told him that Tory Chris Knight was doing V-for-Victory signs on the other side of the room (I think that’s what the two finger gesture was).

Not that long ago TB (as Alastair Campbell might call him) was all about packing up at the council and final speeches. Some kind words were even said about him by his opponents because they thought he was clearing off. Yet, then there was this bizarre sequence: He gave up his safe seat in Regent’s Park, changed his mind about his council career, fought Gospel Oak and won against a full Tory slate including the well-liked deputy mayor Lulu Mitchell.

He will now have a leading role in the new Labour administration in Camden. Batten down the hatches.
