Council TV: More live Town Hall meetings coming to a screen near you

WORK is continuing apace at the Crowndale Centre where a new Town Hall chamber, mayor’s parlour and committee rooms are being constructed. As explained previously, councillors will be there for around three years while the refurbishment of the current Town Hall goes on; Camden is reworking the old building in Judd Street to let out the top two floors and basement.

The first meeting at the new Crowndale chamber is due on September 5, a cabinet meeting. In the outside rooms, meanwhile, the council says three of the five committee rooms will have cameras installed, meaning a new range of the smaller meetings will be televised for the first time. *Gets popcorn*.

It’s a positive development: more screens and an improved sound system aims to bring all the action to more people, which is good news for anybody who wants to watch from afar, and you’d be surprised, this doesn’t just mean journalists.
