Move over Suggs… Labour councillor sings banging version of Baggy Trousers at school fair

bigpicIT’S a bit early in his Camden council career to say here’s Labour councillor Oliver Lewis as you’ve never seen him before. Perhaps, he spends all his weekends doubling up as Suggs from Madness.

But here he is as I’ve never seen him before, a month after his council election win, bashing out the lead vocals to Baggy Trousers on a playground stage at Brookfield School yesterday afternoon. And who better to provide the music with him but two of the band’s real life members, Lee Thompson and Mike Barson, who are former pupils at the Highgate primary school and were surprise guests at the summer fair.

Thankfully, Labour party colleague Patrick French was swift-thinking enough to get it all on film.

I sadly wasn’t there to hear the horns, but one parent texted: “If a Danish lager company made school summer fairs…” Brookfield has had an extra reason to celebrate this year with a series of events marking its 100th anniversary.
