THIS is pretty stinky, although just how stinky will depend on whether you think Camden Council should be using its resources to rival Time Out, existing guides and local newspapers to run an entertainment listings website. Questions have been raised at full council before about why Camden runs Love Camden, a separate website from the main Town Hall site. It was noted in a to and fro that somebody has to be paid to keep it running and up to date, providing information about comedy and music gigs that you could already get from Time Out and other sites.
Regardless of where you stand on that, and there are certainly arguments for and against, it is cheeky for the council to splat adverts for the website on the pavements of Camden Town, adverts which let’s be honest look like somebody has chundered up their bhuna after one too many lagers. It’s the kind of advertising that Camden hates if anybody else tries it and comes down hard on it.
A bundle of cash has been spent on paving bits of Camden Town over and railings have been taken down to make us all feel better about the place, now people are taking a walk down the High Street to see how many Camden Council puke-ups they can find. Call it sick-splat orienteering.
