I’D be surprised if George Binette’s voice wasn’t a little hoarse yesterday morning. The branch secretary of Camden Unison was in the thick of the anti-cuts march to Downing Street on Wednesday night. He had also been out on a battle bus touring Camden and Islington throughout the day. I caught them as they set sail from the Town Hall and George was straight into action on the loud hailer, urging people to join the demo later in the day.
The now familiar chant was: They say cut back, we say fight back.
Still, a little cutting back of the trees along Judd Street might have made for a safer journer. Facing the wrong way on an open-top bus, only a late shout of ‘duck’ from a union colleague thankfully prevented a nasty start today…
