The shove the ref never saw

HEARTY congratulations to the Camden Labour team who beat the New Journal tonight in a charity match at Haverstock School for the Pakistan flood relief appeal. Lots of fun – and hopefully a few bob made to for this worthy cause. Labour councillor Awale Olad came up with the idea, Kajima – the firm who run the leisure services at Haverstock – kindly provided the pitch for free. Well done for setting up this successful event.

Sad to say, the final score was 10-4. Their centre forward, chap who goes by the name of Alastair Campbell, terrorised the CNJ defence at corners, scoring two and then claiming an own goal as a third for himself. But what’s the secret of his success? Would TV replays, if they had been available, have spotted the big man with a clear hand in the back of New Journal reporter Josh Loeb in this penalty area scramble? No foul was given but Exhibit A looks pretty damning…

More pictures, reaction, etc follows and full report in the New Journal on Thursday with details on donations.

  1. Mr Loeb was merely falling backwards and Mr Campbell, being the kind & considerate person that he is, was offering assistance so there would be no injury! ;)

  2. After all of Osley’s crowing predictions, CNJ humiliated and hunting for excuses. Oh dear.
