You got there quick, didn’t-ya?
TO any councillor who she felt had been climbed the poles of politics with ferocious speed, dear old Ellen Luby used to shout: You got there quick, didn’t-ya?
So what would she have made of Jesse Norman, Conservative MP for Hereford? Elected for the first time in May, whispers have it that he could already be in line for some sort of cabinet role come the first re-shuffle of David Cameron’s senior ranks. We’ll see, but to think, it was only a few years ago that Jesse – son of Roundhouse saviour Sir Torquil N – was being easily beaten in local elections in Camden.
He trailed in a distant eighth when standing in the Camden Town and Primrose Hill ward, defeated by among others Lib Dem Chris Naylor.
The good folks of Hereford and DC clearly recognise quality when they see it!
