The last EDM?
IF Glenda Jackson is to lose her seat in the House of Commons – and it is an ‘if’, she’s not beat yet – then her last signature on an Early Day Motion at Parliament would prove poignant. Before the election campaign was officially kicked off, she added her name to Islington North Jeremy Corbyn’s EDM paying tribute to the great Corin Redgrave, her fellow actor and lefty campaigner who died last month. The word of the motion, signed by Glenda on April 6, read:
That this House expresses profound sadness at the death of Corin Redgrave; recalls his life as a brilliant actor, peace campaigner, supporter of the downtrodden and man of enormous principle and generous character; and offers its condolences to all his family and many friends at the loss of such a fine man.
