Soul Heaven: Teddy Pendergrass

Teddy Pendergrass

FIRST Willie, now Teddy.. it’s not been a great start to 2010. Teddy Pendergrass didn’t make a zillion records on my MP3 collection, but he sang on Wake Up Everybody, which is a greater achievement than most. Everybody should own that record.

He had the misfortune of hearing his songs covered by the likes of Simply Red, but worst still he was paralysed in a car accident in the 1980s. By all accounts he inspired a million more after the incident with his work for people who suffer spinal injuries. Pendergrass died aged 59 on Wednesday, another sad passing.
