Congressman for Camden Town
June 14, 2012
I’M going to join the interview waiting list for new US congressman Ron Barber, elected in southern Arizona this week to replace Gabrielle Giffords – who resigned to focus on her astonishing recovery from being shot in the head at a shopping mall. Barber, one of Giffords’ aides, was himself shot that day and still has the dimple in his cheek to prove it.
A helpful correspondent tells me that many years ago, you could have found the boy Ron Barber living in Royal College Street, Camden Town. I wonder if he can remember the place. Maybe he can recall the Ferodo Bridge. Watching him interviewed by Piers Morgan, there is hardly a trace of a British accent. He is now an all-American politician a million miles from NW1.
